[Standalone] Faithful Father

What a day it is? A day of celebration to some. To other’s? Well…it’s a day that hits the inadequacies of us all. Some of us are swimming through the current of how to be a father. Especially if you have a son! And especially if your dad was a…(Click photo to read more…)

The God Complex: Quiting Your Double Life

I should have wrote this toward the start of me blogging. To preface it all. But can we stop the God complex? Can we stop using scripture or God as our scapegoat or cop out?

When I entered the counselor’s office the first time, he asked me a bunch of questions; being the double-minded man I was I knew how to pull out my God card (the charmer identity). He didn’t buy it. He saw right through it. (Click photo for more)…

Placing Boundaries

The Full Disclosure has been read and cried over. And though there was this freedom that I am FINALLY known; my wife would feel the weight of ALL THIS in the coming years of our marriage.

This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. This is just not how anyone should ever go about this. My wife felt burdened and yet relieved and eventually it would lead to her loving me more because she now know ALL OF ME. But before that ever happens, some things had to be put in place. [Standalone] The Cult of Safety

Safety is the driving force of everything. Officer safety. Public safety. And of course, who can forget the much-maligned safe space? Everything about the life of the American is dominated by safety above all else. The danger is inescapable. (Click photo to read more…)

Empathy: Do I have it?

For me to cultivate empathy, I had to go through these type of exercises on my own, outside of the heated exchanges. So that meant being out in the field at work in the middle of the day, or while at lunch looking at the feelings wheels and matching words to emotions. I needed to try and practice seeing life through her lens. (Click photo to read more…)

Full Disclosure: I’ve never been this naked

Eyes wide. Beyond belief what I signed up for. Wanting to walk out. I have NEVER shared with anyone about my sex life. It had been my own little secret. No one knew about that time in 2nd grade, my mom babysat a girl. We would cover the bottom of my bunk-bed with covers and play around. Yeah. No one knew. (Click photo to read more…)

The Move to Michigan - Flirting with Fire

At the carwash, we dealt a lot with IT Helpdesk on our software systems. I had a dedicated IT gal that would help me if I ever had issues. There were some nights I had to go in, because the system would crash and I had to prepare for business the next day. On those nights, I’d have to call her. What started with a little laughter over the phone, became toxic. (Click photo to read more…)

In The Counselor’s Office - My Reaction

I began to well up with regret as I put down the list of boundaries and expectations. The consequences for my actions were not something I wanted to do. “How could she be so strict”, I thought to myself. I am not the kind of guy who likes rules and boundaries, but despite my irritation and frustration with my wife as she laid them before me, I knew I had no other option. This was not her fault. My View on Reproductive Rights

Today, “reproductive rights” is almost synonymous with the right to abortion. The closest the Old Testament comes to mentioning abortion is in Exodus 21:22–23. If someone accidentally caused a pregnant woman to go into labor, but the baby survived, the culprit was only fined. However, if the fetus died, the culprit was to be executed as well, because God required “a life for a life.” We can infer much from that command. If those were God’s instructions for accidental miscarriage, how much more inexcusable does God consider intentional miscarriage? Click photo to read more…
